Two popular festive-themed events in Cornwall have been axed or postponed due to Storm Darragh amid amber weather warnings for Cornwall.
The impending severe weather conditions have seen the cancellation of Falmouth's Festive Weekend, originally due on Saturday (December 7) and Sunday (December 8). Winds up to 80mph are expected across the county with coastal areas particularly affected.
A 'danger to life' amber warning for strong winds in parts of Cornwall was originally in place from 3am to 9pm on Saturday. This has today (Friday 6) been extended from 1am to 9pm.
Also cancelled is a Christmas market due to take place in Porthleven this weekend. Origin Coffee's Christmas market will be postponed for one week due to the conditions.
In a post shared on Facebook, a spokesperson for Origin said: “Due to severe weather conditions in Porthleven, the Origin Roastery Christmas Market has been postponed by a week.

“The new dates are the 14th-15th of December; we hope to see you there. All workshop tickets are transferable for the following weekend and attendees have been emailed. If you can’t make it, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
Falmouth's Festive Weekend is telling people to "stay safe over the weekend" and that it hopes people understand its decision to cancel the event. The Falmouth Town Team said: "It is with great regret that due to the forecast adverse weather conditions and amber alert that has been issued as Storm Darragh makes its way to Cornwall, the Falmouth Town Team and partners have made the difficult decision to cancel the Festive Weekend planned for Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of December.
"Arranging and delivering a public event requires contributions from multiple organisations, to ensure the safety of all involved. After evaluating all possible alternatives, it is the safety and welfare of those attending as well as volunteers supporting, that have been the foremost considerations when making this decision.
"We would like to thank all those who have freely given up time to help with event planning as well as the organisation of Falmouth’s Christmas programme. Such efforts demonstrate the strength of community spirit and passion that many people have for our special town.
"We hope that people will understand and appreciate the circumstances which have led to this decision. Do stay safe over the weekend."
